Football great and TV personality Sam Newman has been left devastated after his wife died at their Docklands home in Melbourne aged 50 after she reportedly went into cardiac arrest.
Amanda Brown was found unresponsive by Newman, 75, lying on the floor of their apartment just before 8pm on Saturday.
Emergency services were called but they were not able to revive her.
‘I’m just devastated, I can’t say anything else,’ the Geelong legend told the Herald Sun on Sunday morning.
The couple have spent the last 20 years together but only tied the knot five months ago on November 27.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman confirmed paramedics were called to Newman’s home at 7.40pm on Saturday over reports of a cardiac arrest.
The report was described as a ‘medical condition’. Amanda’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Eddie McGuire became one of the first footy personalities to extend sympathies to Newman, saying it was a ‘heartbreaking day’ for the sporting community.
‘Our great friend and colleague, Sam Newman, 300 game superstar of the Geelong Football Club, came home from going out with a couple of friends yesterday and found his wonderful wife Amanda dead on the floor of his apartment,’ he said on Fox Footy.
‘Sam, you know that we’re thinking of you, buddy.
‘I spoke to him last night, and he’s clearly devastated by the whole situation. Our thoughts are with all the Newman and Brown family.’
Veteran sports journalist Mike Sheahan, who presented a podcast with Newman, also extended his condolences, calling Ms Brown as ‘bubbly’ and the love of his mate’s life.
‘I feel terribly sorry for (Sam). It was just before his 75th birthday that he got married, and he was very happy with that, and very content in his private life,’ he told The Australian.
‘They had a really good relationship and he was the happiest I had seen him.
‘Especially given the time that they were together, 20 years, he said to me he was devastated. It’s just so traumatic, it’s going to throw his life into confusion.’
The couple married in November in their luxury high-rise apartment with former Perfect Match host Greg Evans officiating the ceremony.
Only close friends and family were in attendance with Newman’s best friend, Kevin King, stepping in as best man.

His eldest son Jack acted as photographer, capturing the intimate ceremony for the newlyweds.
Amanda was first spotted out with Newman at a New Year’s Eve party at the Crown Casino back in 2002.
The pair were notoriously private, rarely posing for photographs together, and the wedding was shrouded in secrecy.
One of Newman’s close friends and co-host of their podcast You Cannot Be Serious, Don Scott, told the Herald Sun he depended on Amanda ‘a fair bit’ and ‘had a lot of feeling for her’.
The former Footy Show host was previously married three times and has three sons. Despite her husband’s public profile, Brown remained largely out of the spotlight
‘What do you say? All you can do is be there,’ he said.
Another colleague, Mike Sheahan, said Amanda’s death was hard to comprehend.
‘He was happy and that’s not always something you’d associated with Sam.’
On social media, one person wrote: ‘This is so sad. They have only been married a very short time’, while another said: ‘Deep sympathy to Sam Newman on his tragic loss’.
‘My heart goes out to Sam Newman and family. Amanda was a mate of mine. We are all devastated, RIP Amanda you were one of a kind,’ one man wrote on Facebook.
Newman played 300 games for his beloved Geelong Football Club in the 1960s and 70s, winning the club’s best and fairest medal twice.
He was named in the club’s team of the century and is also in the club’s hall of fame.
He retired in 1980 and immediately began working in the media, commentating for radio station 3AW and Channel 7.
Newman was one of the faces of the AFL Footy Show from 1994 until 2018 where he became a controversial figure for his outspoken views.
He has three sons named Jack, Geordan and Max from his previous three marriages.
