Saints draft picks 2021: Who did New Orleans take? Full list of NFL Draft selections

The Saints are looking for answers to their continued offensive success in 2021, and that starts with two of the game’s most important positions: quarterback and wide receiver.

Drew Brees is off to retirement, meaning coach Sean Payton will likely want to add some pieces to the quarterback room outside of projected starter Taysom Hill and backup Jameis Winston. Gone too is Emmanuel Sanders, the team’s second-leading receiver in 2020.

But the Saints also have significant needs in the defensive secondary and line of scrimmage. Whether they select in those positions — or somewhere else — depends on who’s available, and where, in the draft.

Here is the full rundown of the Saints’ 2021 NFL Draft picks:

Saints NFL Draft needs

  • Quarterback: The Saints have only two quarterbacks on the roster in Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston after the retirement of Drew Brees. Payton has gone all in on Hill as the franchise’s quarterback of the future, but that doesn’t mean some competition won’t be welcome — and necessary.
  • Cornerback: New Orleans cut cornerback Janoris Jenkins in early March, leaving a hole at the position opposite Marshon Lattimore. The question is whether this will be the Saints’ most pressing need or if they will wait till Round 2 to select this position.
  • Wide receiver: The Saints’ 2020 leader in targets (107), receptions (83) and yards (756) was running back Alvin Kamara, if that tells you anything about the team’s need for depth at receiver. Michael Thomas will look to rebound after playing in only seven games last season, but Emmanuel Sanders is gone. Look for this to be a priority for Payton and Co.
