Jurgen Klopp was seen laying into referee Felix Brych over his ‘unfair’ decisions after Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid, with the official hitting back at his fellow German for his behaviour.
The Reds slumped to a disappointing defeat in the Spanish capital on Tuesday night thanks to a Vinicius Jr double either side of half time and a Marco Asensio strike, with Mohamed Salah pulling one back earlier on.
But Klopp was left furious by a failure to award a foul on Sadio Mane just seconds before Asensio added a second and did not hold back after the full-time whistle – following Brych off the pitch and holding him to task over his officiating.

Klopp told him ‘unfair is the worst thing you can say about a referee’ after the final whistle
But Brych hit back, telling his fellow German he wasn’t being fair either in his comments
As the pair speak in German, Klopp can be heard saying: ‘It’s unfair and unfair is the worst thing you can say about a referee’.
Brych looks unfazed by the criticism he receives from the former Borussia Dortmund boss and simply replies: ‘Jurgen, what you’re doing now is unfair too.’
Klopp continued his tirade at Brych while speaking to the media after the game and refused to let the issue rest, insisting he had made ‘personal decisions’ against Mane, explaining he had simply told the referee he was unfair to the Senegalese star.
‘The situation with Sadio, I’m not sure what the ref did tonight,’ a livid Klopp said. ‘It seemed like it was sort of personal.
Mane was hauled down by Lucas Vazquez moments before Real Madrid’s second of the night
‘I told him after the game, I just thought he was unfair with Sadio. He didn’t lose us the game but you need just an OK ref.’
Liverpool were off the pace at the the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, Real Madrid’s training ground, and Klopp admitted the ‘strange’ atmosphere affected his side, while also conceding his players were not good enough.
‘If we want to go to the semi-finals we have to earn the right to do so and we didn’t do that, especially in the first half,’ Klopp said after the final whistle.

It was another chastening night for Liverpool with their European hopes hanging by a thread
‘The only good thing I can say about the game, apart from the goal, is that it is only the first half of the leg. We just didn’t play good enough football tonight to cause Real Madrid more problems.
‘I thought it would have been possible but we have to show it in the next game. We made it too easy for them.
‘This was strange tonight because it was really difficult with the stadium (at Madrid’s training ground) but Anfield is at least a proper stadium and it will be good for us.’
