Beauty lovers have gone gaga over yet another viral makeup product: a $38 foundation balm that is proving so popular on TikTok for its impressive coverage and lightweight texture that stores across the US have sold out in a matter of weeks.
Created by tattoo artist Kat Von D’s makeup brand KVD Beauty, the Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Hydrating Foundation Balm went viral on the video-sharing platform just days after its release, as users began posting stunned reviews in which they were seen marveling at the product’s efficacy.
Makeup fans have branded the product one of the most ‘insane’ and ‘effective’ foundations they have ever tried, with many praising it for covering up ‘everything’, from redness to pigmentation to blemishes – without feeling heavy or oily on the skin.

The foundation professes to be a ‘full-coverage, hydrating, long-wear formula’ that results in a ‘fresh matte finish’ that won’t feel or look thick on the skin – and according to numerous fans on TikTok, that is exactly what it delivers.
Meghan Grant, a makeup artist with more than 52,200 followers on the app, was left open-mouthed in shock after trying the foundation balm for the first time and seeing how well it covered up the hyperpigmentation on her skin.
‘I have never seen more hype over a foundation but here we are,’ she began her review video, before explaining that she picked up the foundation in two of its 40 shades, just to make sure that she achieved the perfect match.
She then laid out some of the promises made by the brand when it comes to the formula, while showing off her natural complexion, explaining: ‘Claims to feel natural but still be really full coverage. I have crazy hyperpigmentation, I have no beauty filter on, nothing.’
Using the KVD Beauty brush that is sold alongside the product, Meghan then applied one swipe of the formula along her cheek – only to be left stunned by what she saw.
The formula left her skin looking close to perfect, covering up all of the dark spots that had been clearly visible on her cheek.
‘I know you lying,’ she exclaims. ‘Are you all seeing this or no? Hyperpigmentation where ma’am? I’m done.’
Before and after: Beauty fans like makeup artist Glamzilla have been waxing lyrical about its impressive coverage and lightweight texture
Going, going, gone: The beauty influencer was amazed by how well the formula covered up her redness
Silky smooth: Despite the product offering plenty of coverage, Glamzilla said that it felt ‘like velvet’ on her skin
In a follow up clip, the beauty influencer responded to her followers’ pleas to put the product through a ‘wear test’ and review how well it lasts on the skin over time, with some insisting that the foundation ‘slides off’ the skin after a few hours.
Meghan, who says she has naturally dry skin, applied oil to one side of her face to try and replicate what the product might look like on someone with an oily complexion, before applying the foundation to both sides of her face.
Seven-and-a-half hours, and one nap, later, Meghan revealed that her complexion still looked close to perfect, with just a small amount of shine developing on the ‘oily’ side.
‘This is my face after I just woke up from a nap,’ she explains. ‘I love it.’
The makeup artist is not the only one to be won over by the product.
Toronto-based beauty influencer Glamzilla was full of just as much praise for the foundation when she tried it out in her own TikTok video – and just like Meghan, she was amazed by the results.
‘Let’s test this out… woah it is full coverage!’ she exclaimed while applying the product to a section of her face. ‘What the heck? Oh my god. Look at that. That’s crazy.’
She went on to apply the foundation across half of her face to demonstrate how much it transformed her skin.
Won over: Makeup artist Mikayla Nogueira confessed to her fans that she ‘cannot remember the last time she was impressed by a KVD product’ – however she loved the foundation
Impressed: Mikayla – who has 4.6 million followers on the app – said the foundation is ‘insane’ and made her skin look ‘perfect’
Wow: ‘That is so insane, it’s so full coverage. I don’t know how to explain this but it’s extremely full coverage but very light,’ she said
‘Wow. It covers all my redness, full coverage but lightweight,’ the TikTok star – who has close to 550,000 followers said. ‘Feels like velvet on the skin. Oh my god yes, yes.’
The foundation has even proven popular with beauty influencers who admit they are not particularly fond of the KVD Beauty brand, including Mikayla Nogueira, who confessed to her 4.6 million followers that she cannot remember ‘the last time she was impressed by a KVD product’.
Get it while you can: The product has sold out in the majority of its 40 shades in stores like Ulta and Sephora
However, after seeing the viral reaction to the foundation balm, Mikayla couldn’t resist giving it a go.
‘I cannot even tell you the last time I was impressed by a KVD product,’ she joked at the start of the video, before admitting: ‘I bought this so fast, [because] it was selling out.’
Mikayla went on to explain that she has ‘normal to dry skin’ so the hydrating formula is ‘right up her alley’.
Just like her fellow beauty fans, the makeup artist couldn’t help but voice her amazement at seeing the initial results.
‘Holy s**t, that is f***ing insane. It’s like perfect,’ she says while applying the formula to one side of her face.
‘That is so insane, it’s so full coverage. I don’t know how to explain this but it’s extremely full coverage but very light. I don’t feel like I have anything on my face. It looks incredible.’
Mikayla also did a wear test to calm her followers’ fears that the foundation doesn’t last throughout the full day, returning to the app hours after applying the product to hit back at those rumors.
Bowled over: Influencer Claudia Oshry – who is known online as Girl With No Job – admitted that she has tried multiple viral beauty products, but has never liked any of them
Stand-out: When it came to the KVD Beauty foundation however, Claudia insisted that the ‘hype was real’
‘This foundation wears so beautifully,’ she insisted, while saying that she loved how ‘dewy’ it looked after a few hours.
The only warning she issued was in terms of application, saying: ‘Do not use too much, a little goes an extremely long way.’
Influencer Claudia Oshry was another TikTok user left stunned by the results of the foundation – admitting at the start of her review video that she has put multiple viral products to the test in the past, and has always been disappointed.
‘I always try out trendy makeup and it always looks terrible on me,’ she said. ‘I’m hoping that this changes my life.’
And as it turned out, the KVD Beauty foundation proved to be the exception to her rule.
‘Wow, s**t, this is crazy. It looks really good. It’s crazy thin and silky smooth. You can see the huge difference,’ she marveled.
‘I just can’t get over it, it literally feels like nothing. This is really crazy, I used so little product and the coverage is so good, it is lighter than air. It’s a little bit oily but I can’t of like that because I have really dry skin.
‘The hype was real, it really was.’
